Partner Organisations
The Sutherland Trust frequently works in partnership with other organisations.
Recent projects have included co-sponsorship of Jill Scharff's appearance at the Edinburgh International Book Festival in August 2007 in relation to "The Psychodyamic Image - Sutherland on Self and Society" the recent edition of key papers by Jock Sutherland, published by Routledge. This was followed in Autumn 2007 by a new course called "Beyond the Couch" - presented by Counselling Studies at Edinburgh University and run in collaboration with the Scottish Institute of Human Relations.
For more information on these collaborations, see our Events page .
Scottish Institute of Human Relations
The Scottish Institute of Human Relations exists to promote a deeper understanding of human relations and to develop this understanding in key areas of national life. It has been a special concern of the institute to combine the in-depth understanding which the psychodynamic / psychoanalytical approach provides, with the growing knowledge of the social and psychological forces that influence human behaviours.
Counselling Studies - University of Edinburgh, School of Health in Social Science
Based within the School of Health in Social Science, of the University of Edinburgh, Counselling Studies is one of Scotland’s principal providers of postgraduate education, training and research in the field of counselling and psychotherapy. With more than fifteen years experience of training in counselling, formerly at Moray House, Counselling Studies has been at the forefront of the development of counselling as a professional activity.
Since 2000, Counselling Studies has consolidated its expertise in training and education with the development of a substantive programme of research of international standing, firmly locating the practice of counselling within the field of social scientific enquiry.
Edinburgh International Book Festival
As one of Edinburgh's key festival organisations, this is the world's largest celebration of the written word; a vibrant meeting place where people of all ages can enjoy events by some of the greatest writers and thinkers on the planet.
