AWARDS UPDATE – JANUARY 2012 Sutherland Trust - Assisted Awards Awards are intended to be assistive in nature and are not intended to provide the bulk of the applicants financial needs. In recent years awards have averaged between £150 and £250. Several factors can affect the award funds available, such as donations, fund raising and the number of qualified applicants. Assistive Awards can be made to workers in health and social care, education and residential and community settings, who have limited resources but wish to undertake further courses. It is necessary that applicants show personal commitment by making some financial contribution themselves and that they will be in a position to use their learning in their work. Awards will be spread as fairly as possible to include applicants from different professional backgrounds. Successful applicants will be invited (at no cost to themselves) to the two Sutherland Trust Lectures immediately following notification of their award. To assist with forward planning, successful applicants will be expected in due course to inform the Trust how the award has helped them. The criteria for the award can be viewed here. Applications can now be received for study to be undertaken. You can download an application form here or send an SAE (A4 size) to: Applications can be sent either by post or by e-mail.
